The 10 tracks from It’s Not You It’s Them revolve around the thought that cinema is life, and life is cinema, and that we each have moments in life that would warrant an accompanying soundtrack. Getting out of bed in the morning is the underlying theme behind the opening track, and inspiration such as this provides the framework for each of the subsequent songs. A mid song break or reinvention serves as a metaphor for overcoming obstacles, negativity and setbacks and moving onwards and upwards. The titles are meant to convey a feeling or visual cue, some express frustration, others are about dealing with complex situations, which in some instances is mirrored by a bigger build in the track, or a quieter song on the whole. This collection represents over 10 years of work, a few of the songs had been sitting waiting for some finishing touches, with most tracks being composed entirely in 2016. All instruments are played by Torval Mork, and with only a few exceptions all tracks began life on an acoustic guitar being strummed or fingerpicked quietly on a Saturday morning.
